About capacity, weight, and size descriptions

Product size, weight, and capacity may slightly vary due to material characteristics and other conditions during production. We appreciate your understanding in advance.

Capacity

[Notation method]

  • Applicable products: Notations are provided for luggage (suitcases, trolley bags) and some other products (e.g., backpacks) only.
  • Measurement unit: L (liter)
  • The actual capacity inside the luggage is shown.
  • Fractions less than 1 liter are rounded down.
  • About expandable luggage

For expandable products for which their depth can be adjusted by opening and closing the zipper, the capacity notations are separated by a / (slash) and indicated as normal/expanded or normal (expanded).

Example: 13/17 L *If only one figure is shown, it is the capacity when expanded.

[Measurement method]

  • Pellets (resin particles) are used for the measurement of the products.
  • Pellets of small particle size (about 4 mm in diameter) are used to minimize gaps between the particles.
  • Pellets are placed in a measuring container (a cube of 10 cm on each side) that holds a volume equivalent to one liter. Then, the body of the completed suitcase is filled with the pellets so that there are no voids, and the measurement is made by the number of times the pellets are filled into the body of the suitcase.

Measurement container and PP pellets / Measurement using PP pellets

  • Only the space for normal use is subject to measurement.
  • For products with pockets, etc., the space inside the pockets is also considered as part of the capacity.
  • The maintenance zippers provided for repair purposes or the like is not intended to be opened during normal use, and the space behind the zippers is not included in the capacity.
  • The amount of space occupied by the luggage is defined as occupied volume and is calculated as the product of the external dimensions (see the notation method section on this page).

Weight

[Luggage (suitcases, trolley bags)] Weight unit: kilograms (kg)

  • Weights of luggage are expressed in kilograms and are indicated to the 100 g unit.
  • The unit of 10 g is rounded down.
  • Resin products such as suitcases slightly vary in weight due to different components depending on the color. Also, the thickness of the product may vary depending on the environmental conditions at the time of manufacture, such as the temperature at the time of molding.
  • The thickness of leather and core materials used for trolley bags and other products varies to some extent, so the weight varies as well.
  • Weight does not include removable accessories (such as instruction manuals, hangers, luggage tags, and padlocks).

[General bags] Weight unit: g (grams)

  • Weights of general bags are expressed in grams, with amounts less than 10 g rounded down.
  • As the thickness of the leather and core material used for bags vary to some extent, the weight varies as well.
  • The weight varies depending on the color of the bag due to differences in the components. The thickness also varies depending on the environmental conditions at the time of manufacture, such as the temperature at the time of sewing.
  • Weight does not include removable accessories (such as instruction manuals, shoulder straps, charms, and padlocks).
  • Weight is indicated for certain products only.

[Measurement method]

  • Measurements are taken using the finished product, not a sum of parts.
When taking measurements, removable accessories (luggage tags, shoulder straps, hangers, charms, padlocks, keys for opening locks, etc.), tags, instruction manuals, etc., are not included.
  • Because of individual differences even among products of the same item number due to various conditions, the maximum value is selected from the measured values of multiple products of the same item number and rounded down according to the indication method above.
  • We do not use averages but rather set values that are fair and not disadvantageous to our customers.

Measurement method

Size

■Size indication: cm (centimeters)

  • The length of each of the three dimensions of the body of the product is measured and indicated.
  • Plastic products such as suitcases and sewn products such as trolley bags and general bags may have slight individual differences in size.

[Luggage (suitcases, trolley bags)]

  • External dimensions of luggage (suitcases and trolley bags) are indicated in the order of H (height) x W (width) x D (depth).
  • The external dimension is the outermost dimensions, including casters, handles, and other protruding parts.
  • If not specified as either body or external dimension, external dimension is indicated.
  • For horizontal luggage, external dimensions are shown in the order of W (width) x H (height) x D (depth).

  • For expandable products for which their depth can be adjusted by opening and closing the zipper, the depth (gusset width) is separated by a / (slash) and indicated as normal/expanded or as normal (expanded) with the value when expanded shown in parentheses.

Example: W40 x H28 x D13/18 cm or W40 x H28 x D13 (18) cm *If only one figure is shown, it is the depth when expanded.

  • Fractions less than 1 cm are rounded up.

[General Bags]

  • The body size of general bags is indicated in the order of W (width) x H (height) x D (depth).
  • External pockets, etc. are not included in the body size.

  • For expandable products for which their depth can be adjusted by opening and closing the zipper, the depth (gusset width) is separated by a / (slash) and indicated as normal/expanded or as normal (expanded) with the value when expanded shown in parentheses.

Example: W40 × H28 × D13/18 cm or W40 × H28 × D13 (18) cm *If only one figure is shown, it is the depth when expanded.

General bag

General bag

  • Products with a depth of less than 1 cm, such as backpacks, are indicated as W (width) × H (height).
  • Fractions less than 1 cm are rounded down.

Wallets and leather goods

  • Wallets and leather goods are indicated in the order of W (width) × H (height) × D (depth).
  • Products with a depth of less than 1 cm are indicated as W (width) × H (height).

[Measurement method]

  • All products are measured using finished products.
  • For external dimensions of suitcases and trolley bags, measurements are taken with a stadiometer or equivalent instrument.
  • Measurements are taken by placing products on a horizontal floor and against a vertical wall and measuring up to the protruding edges for each of the three dimensions by holding an object with a right angle such as a triangle ruler against the wall.

General bags are measured at the longest part of the body, not including handles, shoulder straps, external pockets, etc.

  • Fractions of less than 1 cm are rounded up for suitcases and trolley bags, and fractions of less than 1 cm are rounded down for general bags in order to indicate values that are not disadvantageous to our customers.

  • In the case of Ace Online Store, online stores in e-commerce malls such as Rakuten, or other online stores where the sellers have their indication rules, the method and order of notation will be adjusted based on the measurements taken according to the method described above.

Storage capacity
